Fathima Memorial Training college,Mylapore is a self financing Training College under the Chairmanship of Late Dr A Younus Kunju Ex.MLA, headed by the Principal Dr Lakshmy Natarajan.
The Institution offers B.Ed Courses with an intake of 50(one unit) per year. The college has been rendering service in the field of teacher education by offering Degree course in Education (B.Ed.) in 6 subjects- English, Malayalam, Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science and Social Science.. The college is affiliated to the University of Kerala, recognised by the University Grants Commission and the National Council for Teacher Education in 2005.
The Institution is engaged in extension & outreach activities for the welfare of the society. In the teacher education scenario the institution has successfully marched forward through its academic excellence fetched by the students of the college. The curricular co-curricular activities of the Institution are growing in leaps and bounds .
The college has been constantly focusing on quality improvement, and over the years has moulded thousands of teachers, who have been offering their immensely valuable services to the society for the last several decades.
Academically, these are times of transition, as the B.Ed curriculum has undergone massive revisions during the last few years, incorporating techno pedagogy into teacher education. The Fathima Memorial Educational Trust was established on 26-10-1991 with reg: number 292 in accordance with section 02 of the charitable societies. The objective of the trust is to uplift the minority and down-trodden people in the society and not for any profit motive, for the weal and welfare of the people. The trust is undertaking a number of social service activities such as free distribution of books and clothes to the poor people, scholarships to the deserving students, medical and financial aid to the old and poor people. The activities of the trust are growing in leaps and bounds. It is because of the prophetic foresight, business acumen and ingenuity of the chairman Dr. Younus Kunju, EX MLA, the founder and chairman of the trust that the trust could succeed in establishing the organization to its highest stature.
The chairman of our institution is Dr. A Younus Kunju Ex. M.L.A , a Philanthropist, businessman, educationalist, politician whose sphere heads many social and cultural organizations in his native district of Kollam and all over Kerala. Under his able leadership and vision the educational institutions are functioning successfully.
Our Chairman Dr.A.Younus Kunju, a man whose sprang from humble origins has achieved a distinguished position due to his careful observations and hard labour. To honour the ideal of service to humanity, he has been conferred the Doctorate in Philosophy by the Senate of Open International University, Colombo on 14th Nov 2010.
